If you run a business in Island Park, you're probably not sitting around wondering about the Chamber of Commerce. You're out plowing driveways at 5 a.m., crawling under a cabin, turning over a rental for the next guest, or hauling a group of fishermen to the river.
So we'll keep this short and straight.
What Is a Chamber of Commerce, Anyway?
It's a group of local businesses that team up so they don't have to go it alone. Instead of every shop, contractor, and outfitter trying to advertise, promote the area, and bring people up the hill on their own, the Chamber does a lot of that for everyone at once.
What It Does for You
It helps customers find you. Think about the cabin owner from out of town whose pipes froze. The new homeowner who needs a well pump. The family who bought a place and has no idea who plows. Where do they look? Online. Chamber members get a listing on islandparkchamber.org, where locals, cabin owners, and visitors go to find services in Island Park.
It puts your name where people are looking. Our community and trail maps get handed out all over town and end up in cabins, trucks, and gear bags all season long. Members get the first shot at advertising on them.
It brings people to town. Events like the I Love IP Festival and Wild West Winter Fest pull crowds up here. More people in Island Park means more people who need a tow, a tank fill, a repair, or a meal. Got an event of your own? Submit it on our website and we'll help spread the word.
It gives the whole area a louder voice. One business calling about a problem is easy to ignore. A Chamber speaking for a whole community isn't. We also work with regional groups like Yellowstone-Teton Territory to bring grant money and attention to our corner of Idaho.
It takes care of the town you work in. This August, our community raffle raised $13,000 for Fremont County EMS winter rescue gear and training. That's the crew that comes when someone's in trouble on a trail, maybe even one of your guys.
What It Doesn't Do
It doesn't eat up your time. You don't have to go to meetings. You don't have to volunteer. You don't have to give a speech. Join, get listed, and let the Chamber do its thing. If you want to get more involved down the road, the door's open. If not, no hard feelings.
Bottom Line
You work hard for this town. The Chamber is here to make sure people know you exist, and to keep Island Park a place worth working in.
